We couldn't have done any of this trip without going on trains. And thank goodness Japanese trains are as good as they are. We have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a train and they always arrive and leave exactly on time. They are ace.
The super fast train is called Shinkansen and they zip around the country. Here is one arriving at Kyoto station.
